On Saturday I had the privilege of attending the coronation banquet of the 2016 Oregon Dairy Princess Ambassador. The Oregon Dairy Women do a fabulous job of the event and the whole ambassador program is an amazing asset to the Oregon dairy industry. I’m excited to see my own county be crowned this year and have two 5th generation dairy farming young women representing us for 2016. My attendance was also “official” business as I attended with the Oregon Guernsey Breeders Association’s 2016 Oregon Guernsey Queen. I am so excited to have Stefani representing our beautiful brown and white Ladies and the state of Oregon this year. It was a night full of crowns and royalty and I actually got to ditch my barn boots for heels. That doesn’t happen very often!
The dairy ambassador program is an awesome scholarship opportunity for college attending young women within the dairy industry. The crown and the title comes with a lot of responsibility and this year’s Queen is already looking at 110 events this year! As a dairy producer I appreciate programs like this that give a voice to our industry. Dairy farming is hard work and we don’t always have the time to be out there in the public advocating. These young women go through wonderful training and just do an amazing job being that voice for us producers! Congratulations go out to Sara as she was crowned the 2016 Dairy Princess Ambassador. I have no doubt she will do an awesome job as I had the pleasure of getting to know her through our counties dairy women work and she even helped with my event for YDLI. Congratulations to all the girls that worked hard the past year as ambassadors, while they don’t attend as many events as the Queen, they are still instrumental in representing the industry. Keep up the good work girls!
