Happy Presidents Day! A day that is worth celebrating and remembering those that have led our country. This day often brings me back to our Founding Fathers. So many of our early leaders had such close ties to agriculture. George Washington not only said “I had rather be on my farm than be emperor of the world” but also the quote above. His close connection and love for his estate at Mount Vernon has left a lasting impression on my love for history. It was in fact my favorite stop on my middle school tour of Washington DC and the surrounding area.
I don’t always feel like dairy farming is a noble employment, but if George Washington says so, I can definitely understand where he was getting that notion from! I’m blessed that my life has led me to this employment. I honestly couldn’t see myself anywhere else.
